Kerry Drew, who works for Black Country Learning Academy (BCLA) based at the Savoy Centre, is celebrating a remarkable double achievement.

Kerry beat off all challenges to take the West Midlands regional “Outstanding Learner of the Year Award” at a ceremony at Birmingham’s Rep Theatre. Kerry then followed this up with the runner's up spot in the national finals. Kerry has been working for the organisation which delivers a Learndirect contract at the Savoy for eighteen months.

Initially Kerry came as a volunteer one day per week but since joining BCLA part time last August Kerry has achieved qualifications in Numeracy and Literacy, a Level 2 in IT, Level 3 and 4 in Information Advice and Guidance and is currently undertaking a Level 3 in Supporting Learners in Literacy and an A1 Level 3 Assessors Award.

Ian Johnson who manages the Learndirect centre said “We are all very proud of what Kerry has achieved she has worked really hard for this and she deserves these awards in recognition of her hard work”. ......Back
